Custom Recording

The custom recording service at Perkins produces high quality, reasonably priced digital recordings for individuals, public and private organizations, and for-profit companies. Our work includes textbooks, magazines and journals, novels and nonfiction, transit schedules, catalogs, business reports, financial documents, and more.

Formats and options

We produce digitally recorded materials on 4-track cassette. Some materials can be made available in standard (2-track) format or on CD and MP3 formats. Custom recording options include adding descriptions of charts, graphs, photos, and tables, and omitting unneeded sections of material.

Copyright permissions

For CD and mp3 formats, we require a signed permissions letter if another individual or institution holds the copyright to the material you wish to record. Contact Robert.Pierson@perkins.org for further information.

Current rates

Qualified Individual

4 track cassettes*	$25 per tape/ up to 6 hrs
4-track priority order**	$50 per tape/ up to 6 hrs.

Non-profit/Government Organization

4-track standard order*	$125 per tape/ up to 6 hrs.
4-track priority order**	$200 per tape/ up to 6 hrs.
CD/mp3 standard order*	$175 per CD/mp3
CD/mp3 priority order**	$250 per CD/mp3

* Standard orders: turnaround from 2 weeks to 3 months for first tape or CD/mp3
**Priority orders: turnaround from 2 days to 3 weeks for first tape or CD/mp3
