American Council of the Blind

This consumer and advocacy organization strives to improve social, economic and cultural opportunities for its members. The website features current news and legislation related to blindness and a link to its radio station. There are links to the ACB publication Braille Forum, a job bank, calendar, articles about pedestrian safety, press releases and speeches, and information about the annual convention. The website is geared toward the general public.

National Coalition on Deafblindness

The National Coalition on Deafblindness is a 2,000 member organization of parents, professionals, people who are deafblind and agencies serving the population who are deafblind. The Coalition has been collectively advocating for the needs of children who are deafblind since 1987.

National Federation for the Blind

This consumer and advocacy organization provides public education about blindness, information and referral services, scholarships, literature and publications about blindness, advocacy services, and support for parents whose child is blind or visually impaired. They are very active in helping people with employment issues and offer discussion groups and networking opportunities as well as a training and technology center. They also offer resources for employers. Publications include Braille Monitor, Voice of the Diabetic, Future Reflections, and Kernel Books. This site is helpful for the public and professionals.
