American Association for the Advancement of Science

The AAAS publishes the journal Science, as well as other publications. They have a large number of programs designed to bring science literacy to all.  They have resources for businesses, scientists, teachers, and students.  One of their many endeavors, Project 2061 has developed highly regarded science curriculum benchmarks.

Entrypoint 

Entrypoint is a program of the AAAS, American Association for the Advancement of Science. It provides internship opportunities in science, engineering, math, computer science and some fields of business for students with disabilities. Among the program’s alumni are students with visual impairments who are now adults working in the science fields.

NFB's National Center for Blind Youth in Science  

This is the website for The National Federation for the Blind’s National Center for Blind Youth in Science.   They offer a variety of resources and programs including a mentoring program.

OceanInsight

This website designed with special features for students who are visually impaired: Listen to the sounds of the engine room on a research vessel. Find out what’s for lunch in the mess hall. Dr Amy Bower, a physical oceanographer at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, who is legally blind and Perkins School of the Blind are involved in a collaboration described on the website. Also read about the collaboration in an article by Perkins science teacher Kate Fraser published in The Science Teacher.
