Rich Falzone
Buildings and Grounds Facilities
Director
Rich Falzone began working at Perkins School for the Blind in 1998. Before that, he was an onsite Construction Supervisor for Lake Contracting, where he was involved in the renovation of all buildings and tunnels at Perkins. He has been a construction foreman and supervisor since 1978.
His primary responsibilities include oversight and maintenance of all buildings, grounds and tunnels. He supervises the maintenance of all heat and air conditioning, electricity, safety systems and the boiler plant. Rich oversees all construction projects (including Shawmut's building of the New Lower School and Grousbeck Center). He also oversees the Chiller Plant and Pond Restoration, the annual Gala, track and field meets and other events, always taking disability issues into account.
Rich works directly with the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) to attain stewardship of abutting property (owned by DCR) on Charles River Road, in order to maintain the property. He also works closely with Support Services (liaising with Brenda Nicholas) and all department heads, staff and students.
Rich contributes to the Capital Projects Committee and also coordinates with off-campus contractors and building inspectors, in the following capacities: town inspections, evaluations from the water department, DPW issues, zoning, town meetings, and matters with the conservation commission and historical society.
Rich earned his construction supervisor license from the Carpenters Union, where he's been a member since 1969.
